Does Apple care work in Costa Rica?
Warranty & services are valid only in country of purchase. You need to send it to your friends or relative that they can go to an Apple Store for service.
Is AppleCare covered internationally?
The warranty and AppleCare / AppleCare+ are only valid in the country where the phone was originally sold. If you purchased it in the US, you can only buy additional coverage from Apple in the US and that coverage will only be valid in the US. The warranty and AppleCare/AppleCare+ on the iPhone are not international.
Where is AppleCare covered?
Both AppleCare+ options provide repair or replacement hardware service for your iPhone. Depending on the plan you choose, you’ll get up to two incidents of accidental damage protection and up to two incidents of theft or loss coverage every 12 months.
Does iPhone warranty work internationally?

Is AppleCare the same as AppleCare+?
AppleCare+ includes regular AppleCare, but on top of that, you get an extra year of warranty coverage (an extra two years for Macs), two years of free phone support (one year extra for Macs), and accidental damage coverage (except for the Apple TV). Regular AppleCare provides no accidental damage coverage.

Can you switch AppleCare from one device to another?
As far as how to transfer AppleCare from one device to another, the process is basically the same as transferring AppleCare+ to a new owner. Get your device and agreement numbers together and contact Apple — but keep in mind that you’ll need receipts and serial numbers for your old and new device.

What is covered under Apple warranty?
The Apple Limited Warranty covers your iPhone and Apple-branded accessories against manufacturing defects for one year from the date you bought your product. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law. Our warranty doesn’t cover damage caused by accidents or unauthorized modifications.
Does AppleCare cover water damage?

Apple has recently introduced AppleCare+ for the iPhone, which covers up to two incidents of accidental damage, with a $49 service fee.
Can I buy AppleCare after damage?
In short, yes. You can buy AppleCare+ after repairing your damaged screen at the Apple Store. AppleCare+ can be purchased up to 60 days after the purchase of the iPhone. So as long as it is repaired by the 59th day, you can get your iPhone inspected in the store and buy AppleCare+ for the full price.
