Durla Francisco is a Belizean national from Dangriga Town. In 2006 she received an award from DePaul University for a research paper – Advanced Project on urban gentrification and its positive and negative connotations on America’s inner cities.
In October 2012, she got appointed to the Executive Council of the American Society for Public Administration. The EC is 7 members who advises the Board. I serve on the University Relations and Events Committee.
Durla is also the president of Belize Garifuna Cultural Organization, Inc. Mission of the group is to provide social assistance with emphasis on Southern Belize.
I will correct a statement I made after I listened to this interview. The word Belizean was not meant to be used as a general term, as there are many successful Belizeans in our community.
Congratulations Durla! You make Belize proud.
